10:30 am: SUNDAY Morning Service, January 28, 10:30AM10:30 am: SUNDAY Morning Service, January 28, 10:30AM – While essential to pay attention to blessings which lift our hearts and remind us of the good, it is also necessary to make space for loss and pain. When buried, these can inhibit our ability to love and share. This service will explore the relationship between gratitude and grief and the opportunities for transformation which come from opening to the whole of life. Guest Speaker Bio – The Rev Pamela Rumancik is poet, native plant enthusiast and long-time tree-hugger. Her spiritual roots reach back to Catholicism, and she is an initiate into the Ruhaniat Sufi tradition. These liturgical origins inform her love of the arts as a vehicle for experiencing the holy otherness of life. Pam’s deepest commitments are to remembering the divine in each being and finding ways to open conversation with folks who see the world differently. Originally from Lorain, Ohio, she is the mother of three grown children and the wife of Rev Karen Mooney. Pam and Karen live in Bull Valley, Il, share their home with two golden doodles and spend a lot of time working in their garden. Second Sunday offering for immigrant assistance. Make checks payable to BUC. Please use check MEMO to direct your contribution.

Sunday Morning Service, February 4, 10:30AMSunday Morning Service, February 4, 10:30AMFebruary 4, 2024 As we enter African American History Month, Rev. Allen will discuss some of our own legacy with race and racism, and ask where we have gotten over the years. Our focus on racial justice in our neighborhood has been pushed to the side by our recent attention to immigrant peoples and needs (also an important and worthy cause), but racial inequity should still demand our attention.
Open Discussion of Proposed Changes to UUA By-Laws, Article II After Church TODAY (will be repeated if there is demand). The proposed changes alter the language describing our UU religious tradition, moving from the current Principles and Sources to a new statement framed by Values and Inspirations. Much is similar, much is changed. The proposal will be voted up or down at the UUA General Assembly in June 2024. The topic has been described several times from our pulpit, but this session is an opportunity to open up discussion, deal with personal reaction, and chew on the ideas in play. Sanctuary |

What does it take to believe in this living, and what makes it a hard way to go? Sanctuary |

10:30 am: Sunday Morning Service, February 25, 10:30AM10:30 am: Sunday Morning Service, February 25, 10:30AM – For better or for worse, uncertainty is our lifelong companion. We can never know what will happen to us next. This not knowing can be deeply uncomfortable. Must we travel together this way throughout life? Or can we make friends with our companion and embrace the improvisational adventure of our uncertain path. Sanctuary |
