UU EDUCATION

The UU Education program at Beverly Unitarian Church is under the leadership of the Religious Education Committee. The Sunday morning program for children and youth is coordinated by our part-time staff person with the support of the UUE Committee.

Religious Education for Children (nursery-7th grade)

R.E. for children is offered each Sunday morning from September through May. Families gather in the sanctuary when the service begins at 10:30 am. Following a "Time For All Ages" the children are led to their classes in the adjacent education building. There at least two teachers/assistants share stories, lead discussion, engage children in activities until 11:40 am when they rejoin their families for the informal after-service fellowship time.

Each year a broad theme is identified and curriculum chosen based on that theme. Some of the themes are: Unitarian Universalism; world religions; the Bible and Judeo Christian roots; UU social justice.

Nursery child care is available every Sunday for infants and toddlers.

YRUU, a youth group for 8-12th graders, meets on alternate Sundays from noon-1:30 pm and, with their adult advisors, plans other events such as movie nights and outings.

Adult Religious Education

Religious Education is not just for young people; it continues throughout our lifespans. BUC usually offers several programs and/or classes throughout the year. Forums planned by the Social Action Committee and the Green Sanctuary Group are good opportunities for learning as well.
