10:30 am: Sunday Morning Service, February 25, 10:30AM10:30 am: Sunday Morning Service, February 25, 10:30AM – For better or for worse, uncertainty is our lifelong companion. We can never know what will happen to us next. This not knowing can be deeply uncomfortable. Must we travel together this way throughout life? Or can we make friends with our companion and embrace the improvisational adventure of our uncertain path. Sanctuary |

10:30 am: Sunday Morning Service, March 3, 10:30 AM10:30 am: Sunday Morning Service, March 3, 10:30 AM – We are seeing an unprecedented assault on the barriers between church and state in America. Much of the Christian right wing is composed of Evangelicals and Pentecostals who believe that our Constitution is the charter of a Christian nation, ordained by God. This past week, the Alabama Supreme Court used Bible verses in support of its mind-bending decision that frozen embryos are fully persons. How can this be going on today? How can we respond?
Childcare and religious education are available during services.
The Beverly Unitarian Church welcomes people of every religious background, race, ethnicity, age, gender, and sexual and affectional orientation.

6:30 pm: A is for Abortion Access Fundraiser, Friday, March 86:30 pm: A is for Abortion Access Fundraiser, Friday, March 8 – A IS FOR ABORTION ACCESS FUNDRAISER TO COMMEMORATE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY AND TO SUPPORT THE STRUGGLE FOR WOMEN'S REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS
FRIDAY, MARCH 8TH: 6:30-8:30 PM 10244 S. LONGWOOD DR.
A is for Abortion Access: In a post-Dobbs world, protecting and fighting for abortion access is a critical component of healthcare and reproductive justice. Join us on International Women’s Day for food, reflections from our speakers, and small group discussion about how to advance this work in our community. This event is a fundraiser for the Chicago Abortion Fund. International Women’s Day is a day to celebrate girls, women, and nonbinary folks, while advocating for equality and justice. It is an opportunity to push forward thoughts on reproductive justice and the role of abortion care. Featured speakers are Dr. Mildred Williamson and Anna Carvlin, MPH. Dr, Williamson has spent her distinguished career in public service with human rights and social justice as her passion. She has more than 25 years of experience in developing and leading public health safety net programs for vulnerable populations. Anna Carvlin, MPH, has spent her career at the frontlines of poverty alleviation and, as a public health educator in West Africa, witnessed firsthand the deleterious effects of lack of abortion access and inadequate reproductive medical care. Her personal experience with in vitro fertilization, preeclampsia, and the specter of a nonviable pregnancy informed her decision to identify as “pro-abortion,” not “pro-choice,” and her belief that all pregnancy stories, healthy or otherwise, are fundamentally abortion stories. She will share a brief memoir excerpt as a launchpad for discussion. Proceeds from the sales of Meaningful Conflicts, an anthology project through Off Campus Writers Workshop, will be donated to the Chicago Abortion Fund. or greater inclusion and intersectionality in the struggle against misogyny, transphobia, racism, and homophobia. Sponsored by Beverly Unitarian Church and Southsiders for Peace.
Light refreshments will be served. |

10:30 am: Sunday Morning Service, March 24, 10:30 AM10:30 am: Sunday Morning Service, March 24, 10:30 AM – When I was growing up, almost all stories had good guys and bad guys. You could even tell them apart by the color of hat that they wore. Somewhere along the way, I finally learned that life is not that simple. Now, I try to tell stories that unite people instead of dividing them. Come hear how some of the stories have changed the way that I see the world. Guest Speaker Bio – Kurt Kalas is a retired child welfare manager, Jane Workhoven's husband and a bass fisherman obsessed with throwing a hollow bodied frog bait. Childcare and religious education are available during services. The Beverly Unitarian Church welcomes people of every religious background, race, ethnicity, age, gender, and sexual and affectional orientation.
