SUNDAY June 14 ~ 10:30 AM

Member in the Pulpit: Rev. Marcia Curtis
Sermon Title: "Juneteenth"
Two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued, word of their freedom reached the slaves of Texas on June 19, 1865. They were the last slaves in the United States to become free. In honor of this holiday, Marcia will look at what it was in the slaveowners' religion that gave slaves and their descendants such strength to survive the oppression of slavery and Jim Crow.

Tune in to the BUC YouTube Channel for today's service and to view previous services: https://www.youtube.com/user/beverlyunitarian/
